"Voronezh"

After reading and annotating Akhmatova's poem, "Voronezh", write a paragraph response that answers the following:

In her poem, "Voronezh", Akhmatova focuses heavily on the weather. How does this assist in evoking a sense of atmosphere and emotion for the reader?

Once you have posted your paragraph you will also need to comment on one other person's post using the peer editing questions from last week.

This is due Friday. You should also finish your homework from last week if it has not already been done!

Peer Editing and Homework

Here is the seven point peer editing plan that we looked at in class today. You should be referring back to this as you complete your homework task for the weekend.
Peer Editing for Westminster Bridge:

1. Is there are clear topic sentence for the paragraph? – ideally there should be three paragraphs in the activity.

2. Does the paragraph clearly articulate and then explain/extend/elaborate on the topic?

3. Does the paragraph contain relevant evidence to support claims?

4. Is the significance of the evidence explained or does the evidence simply hang there in the paragraph?

5. Does the paragraph appear to be based on analysis or simply description?

6. When you get to the end of the paragraph, do you think that they have answered the question?

7. Obviously, you need to also look at the technical elements:
• Spelling
• Punctuation
• Sentence Structure
• Expression
• Word Choice
• Capital Letters

Just as a reminder, the homework task requires you to complete the three questions on the Sogi poem, in paragraph format, and post these paragraphs to your blog.

Once you have posted your own paragraphs, you need to go into two other people's blogs and, using the peer editing guidelines, leave them constructive feedback. This is all to be completed by Monday. You can access the blogs of class member by going through the Blackboard folder that says Blogs - you will find our class folder here. If you are still logged into your Google account or Blogger when you start to look at other people's blogs you will find it a bit quicker to make comments.
